American Express - Business gold card


After having a business relationship that has endured for some 25 years American Express has begun to treat me as if I am a criminal. We spent approximately 350,000 dollars with them last year with absolutely no late payments or other issues. American Express just set a limit on my no limit card which will result in our discontinued use of the card. We typically spend from 20,000 to 50,000 dollars per month and now they have limited us to total outstanding balance of 44,000 dollars which will effectively make them unusable to us. The reason given was a change in my credit score (I am an s-corp) Upon hearing this I immediately pulled a credit report and my credit score has not changed and has continued to increase over the past three years. When I tried to inquire I was amazed that the wonderful attitudes I am used to at customer service did not exist in this section of the company. The CSR s were uncaring, rude, poorly informed, unable to access any information and unwilling to send me to someone in a position to help. The attitude was that if it happened then I must be at fault. It is virtually a closed loop. There has been no change in my credit report and there seems to be no mechanism to intervene in this situation. The representatives say yes I see you have been a great customer and you always pay on time so I don't see why they would do this. We will move on but I feel a sense of total confusion about whether I have crossed some line or there has been a philosophy change at Amex. The decision makers are well insulated from the problems they create. I am simply asking for some proof of the reasoning behind this decision and no one seems wiling to respond.
